Jamie was first propelled into the spotlight when he was chosen as a finalist in the inaugural Jolomo Prize for Scottish Landscape Painting in 2007. He sold all of the pieces that he exhibited at the finalists' exhibition held in March the following year, at the Air Gallery in London. Due to the incredible demand for his work he was invited to exhibit again soon after, at a mixed exhibition in London organised by Caledoniart, the Scottish Contemporary Art specialists, in December 2008.
Jamie moved to Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands in 2002 from his home in Lincolnshire. A keen climber and mountaineer from a young age, he found a wealth of inspiration for his paintings while walking and climbing on those peaks.
Soon after moving to Scotland, he began to exhibit in local exhibitions. He showed his work at the Fort William Mountain Festival, where he won prizes for most popular artworks as voted by the public, and at the Dundee Mountain Film Festival, where his painting of Sgurr Alasdair on the Isle of Skye was used for the Twentieth Anniversary Festival promotional poster.
In 2006, he was selected to exhibit at the Aspect Prize exhibition by the Paisley Art Institute, and has participated regularly in exhibitions held by local Lochaber gallery, Resipole Studios.
Jamie's artwork has been featured in several national publications including newspapers The Scotsman and the Sunday Post, as well as Art of England, Scottish Homes and Interiors, and Art News Scotland magazines. (See the News and Exhibitions page for more details).
His paintings are held in collections throughout the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, and has self-published a number of limited edition prints. He currently lives and works in Fort William.
